Fagerhult Lighting Academy

All activity in Fagerhult has its base in the need for light. The main strategy of the Company is to work with lighting in its broadest sense with the aim of conveying the perfect light.

Light means energy, protection and health for we humans. Light also consumes energy. Therefore, it is not strange that the Company, under the umbrella concept Fagerhult Lighting Academy, has created a centre for knowledge concerning light. Here, both staff and customers are trained in how light affects us.

Light offers protection

Within the Business Area External Lighting, Fagerhult has accumulated knowledge of how public spaces should be illuminated in order to offer protection and security during dark evenings and nights. Beams of light, placed along strolling paths in parks, not only offer an attractive environment, but naturally also offer protection for those walking in the park. Likewise, fronts of buildings and vegetation can be illuminated in a manner that creates an illuminated security.

Light brings health

It is well-known that darkness makes us gloomy.By having the right lighting in both homes and work places we feel energised and able to be more productive. It is not surprising that this knowledge is being accumulated in the Nordic countries, which are dark for long periods of the year.

Light brings business

In Bollebygd, the Business Area Retail runs a centre for demonstrating the effect light has on the merchandise in our shops. Here, interior designers and shopkeepers can study how the right lighting influences customer choice of merchandise.

Light gives and takes energy

Light gives us energy. But light also consumes energy. Ten percent of energy consumption in Sweden is due to lighting. 30-45 percent of the consumption in an office building is lighting. Sensible usage of lighting by using new products and new technology in order to lower and control the lighting can help cut down on expenses for both society and individuals.
