When planning new buildings and houses, it is becoming increasingly common for architects to use light and lighting to create dramatic effects. The same holds true for public parks and footpaths. Apart from the need for safety and security in areas in which people walk after nightfall, lighting can form a beautiful contribution to the environment. With different kinds of fittings, light can be spread out vertically to illuminate walls, plants or fences. At the same time, traditional horizontal lighting creates safer environments for pedestrians.
Results
The Business Area created sales of SEK 127 million in 2006, an increase of 19 percent. Operating profit/loss was SEK 6.6 million and the operatingmargin was 5.2 percent.
The market
Fagerhult’s customers for Outdoor Lighting are predominantly found among decision makers in public administration. The Company also works extensively with architects and construction companies developing public environments. The Business Area lacks a critical mass and a sufficient presence in European markets. The aim is also to succeed in the growth strategy on these fronts.
